MAYOR Sebastian Duterte said Duaw Dabaw, the newest festival launched by the local government is an “investment,” as it is established to stimulate the economic growth of the city further.
During the launching of the Duaw Dabaw festival on June 21, the city mayor emphasized in an interview that the city had spent enough budget for the event.
“Gina-expect man gyud nato na to stimulate the economy, so we have to spend on that. That’s an investment for the part of our local government units,” Duterte said.
He also said this will further boost and benefit the tourism establishments, which include their hospitality business, and food and beverage, among others.
Duaw Dabaw, also known as “Visit Davao” aims to fill the gap in the second quarter, which typically doesn’t have a festival for Davao City. For instance, Araw ng Dabaw is set for the first quarter of the year, Kadayawan sa Dabaw covers the third quarter, while Pasko Fiesta is set for the fourth quarter.
The City Tourism and Operations Office allocated an amount of P15 million utilized for the activities prepared by the office.
Some activities for the festival are also in line with the annual celebration of Pride Month in support of the LGBT community.
