During his State of the City Address on Tuesday, Duterte stressed this can be attributed to continued peace and order in the city.

“This indicates that more people are now confident to be involved in the business environment and their capacity to run a business venture,” he said.

“Much of that peace and order is what encourages people,” the mayor added.

He said that peace and order made the city business-friendly and,  hence should be maintained at all times.

He called on the barangay chairman to participate in peace-keeping, especially at the barangay level.

Mga kapitan, participate to be vigilant aron ma mentenar nato ang kanindot sa lugar karon ug mas ma pa gwapo pa nato sa mosunoray,” he said.

Duterte reported that 50,969 establishments have applied for and renewed their business permits from July 1, 2023, to April 30, 2024.

This has a significant increase of 1,469 applications from the same period last year.

He added that digitalization has also been instrumental in the city’s thriving business environment.

He proudly announced the Anti-Red Tape Authority has recognized the city for implementing the electronic Business One Stop Shop (e-BOSS) system, which eases the process of business permit applications.
