Barangay 2-A fire victims get relief aid from Paolo Duterte’s office

MORE THAN 200 families displaced by a fire here received immediate assistance from the Office of First Congressional District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte on Saturday night.

The lawmaker’s son, Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II, led the distribution of food packs, bottled water, and hot porridge to fire victims (545 individuals) at Purok 2, Barangay 2-A. 

They will distribute more help on the next day.

Rep. Duterte’s office has been providing immediate assistance and food packs to the district’s constituents and other residents in the city affected by man-made and natural calamities.

In an initial report of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Davao City Fire District, two persons were killed, one was injured, and 203 families lost their homes following the incident that destroyed 150 houses.

Authorities identified the fatalities as cousins Rjay Lopez, 11, and Roy Reteza, 14. Their bodies were found inside the restroom of their house during the mopping-up operations of the authorities.

The fire started at around 8:25 p.m. Firefighters from different stations responded to the area and put out the fire around 11 p.m. Property damage was estimated at P2.250 million. 

Meanwhile, Vice President Sara Duterte also visited the fire victims in Magallanes on Saturday night and distributed assistance.
