THE PBA’s four-point shot is in full effect and Chris Banchero was the first player to score it.

Banchero, a player for Meralco Bolts, hit the shot at the second quarter of the game against the Magnolia Hotshots. Bolts went on to win 99-94.

The 49th season of the PBA opened last Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum where the league introduced its newest four-point line. The line extends 27 feet from the basket.

PBA is not the first league to experiment with the unique line. In 2022, the WNBA adapted the rule for their All-Star games, albeit alterations.

Upon announcement, the new regulation gained contrasting feedback as some claimed excitement while some were quick to criticize the new move.
