  • Driver faces charges after bumping traffic enforcer

A DRIVER who was caught on video deliberately bumping a traffic enforcer personally appeared at the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) on Tuesday morning, Jan. 14, to give his side.

According to CTTMO chief Dionisio Abude, the 42-year-old driver, a resident of Lanang, was involved in a case conference with representatives from the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU), Sta. Ana Police Station, and the City Information Office.

However, Abude said they would still file a case against him and serve as a warning to other motorists.

The investigation revealed that a traffic enforcer first flagged down the driver for counterflowing and taking a shortcut at a gasoline station along Torres Street. However, the suspect ignored the officer and sped off.

As a result, the enforcer pursued him on his motorcycle. When the enforcer attempted to stop the driver for a second time, he allegedly tried to run him over.

Meanwhile, the driver declined to comment to the media.
