ASEAN Tourism Forum opens in Johor Bahru

THE SOUTHERN state of Johor in Malaysia welcomed international buyers, sellers, and the media on Jan. 15 at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre for the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2025. The annual event’s opening ceremony was led by Malaysian Minister of Tourism, Culture and Arts Dato Sri Tiong King Sing along with Tourism ministers from across the ASEAN.

“Malaysia recognizes the vital role tourism plays in our region’s economic prosperity. We are committed to fostering its growth and ensuring that tourism continues to be a significant economic contributor within the ASEAN region,” the minister said.

He also underscored the forum’s role in creating an “invaluable opportunity for knowledge exchange, fostering growth and enhancing shared commitment to sustainable and inclusive tourism.”

Apart from the ministerial meetings, the forum features the ASEAN Travel Exchange (TRAVEX), a dynamic B2B platform connecting nearly 100 regional sellers with over 300 buyers. Complementing TRAVEX is a three-day ASEAN Tourism Conference, which features insightful discussions and presentations.

Under the theme “Unity in Motion: Shaping ASEAN’s Tourism Tomorrow,” ATF 2025 is dedicated to building a collaborative, resilient, and sustainable future for ASEAN tourism
