THE ARCHDIOCESAN Social Action Center of Davao will conduct a “Walk with Peace for the Poor” on April 7.
At the Kapehan sa Dabaw in SM Ecoland on Apr 1, social action director Fr. Leonardo Dublan Jr. said the event will be a simultaneous walk as part of the 75th Anniversary of the Archdiocese of Davao.
The walk will begin at 4 am at the starting points of four different parishes, San Pablo Parish, Santa Ana Shrine Parish, Our Mother of a Perpetual Help Parish (Redemptorist Church), and Our Lady of the Assumption Parish with a converging point at San Pedro Cathedral.
A mass will begin at 6 a.m. at San Pedro Cathedral and will be celebrated by Archbishop Romulo Valles.
At least 3,000 participants from 42 parishes, sectarian and nonsectarian schools, and religious organizations are expected to participate in the event. The routes, however, are still being finalized for security purposes as advised by the Public Security and Safety Office.
Dublan added the event will also help raise funds for disasters and establish better relationships with city responders.
“This Walk with Mercy for the Poor is a fundraising (event) that will be used when there will be disaster incidents in Davao City,” he said.
The registration fee will cost P400 and will go to the disaster fund. Registrations can be availed at the Social Action Center at the back of San Pedro Cathedral.
