Army truck turns ambulance: baby girl delivered on board

THE KM450 truck of the 56th Infantry Battalion turned into an ambulance as it helped transport a pregnant civilian in Barangay Palma Gil, Talaingod, Davao del Norte on Monday, Dec. 18.

The truck was ferrying soldiers when it passed by the pregnant woman and her family. Immediately realizing the emergency nature of the situation, they helped carry her onto the truck and transport the expectant mother to the hospital.

However, the 56IB soldiers assumed the role of unexpected midwives as the baby, named Kyla Mae, could not wait for the hospital. She was successfully born on the truck and eventually reached the hospital for appropriate care and examination.

In a statement, the Philippine Army said, “This poignant event stands as a testament to the adaptability and resourcefulness of the Philippine Army in unforeseen circumstances.”

“The commendable actions of the 56IB have garnered praise from the Army leadership, underscoring their commitment to going above and beyond the call of duty in service to the community,” it added.
