An anti-tank weapon was recovered by army troopers during an operation in New Bataan, Compostela Valley Tuesday evening.
Capt. Jershome Butt, the officer-in-charge of the Philippine Army’s 10th Infantry Division public affairs office, said a platoon from the Bravo Company of the 66th Infantry Battalion, led by 2Lt. Patrick Willis Serrano, conducted a strike operation in Sitio Duyan-duyan, Barangay Pagsabangan when they discovered the improvised anti-tank 57 mm recoilless rifle.
In a statement, Maj. Gen. Noel Clement, the division commander, said the recovery of the weapon “is a significant accomplishment.”
“Such war material could also be used as Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and could cause huge damage to the troops,” Clement said.
