Sixteen houses were razed by fire in Purok 2, Bucana, Barangay 76-A, at 2:50 a.m. yesterday. Meanwhile, the suspect who reportedly caused the fire was arrested by elements of the Sta. Ana Police Station.
Senior Fire Officer 3 Ramil Gillado, the investigation chief of the Bureau of Fire and Protection XI, said the fire started from the house of Romeo Sambrano. The flames immediately spread to the nearby houses, which are mostly made of light materials.
Firefighters from the SIR Fire Station, Bangoy Fire Station, and Central Fire Station responded to the scene. A fire-out was declared at 4 a.m. The estimated cost of damage was P250,000.
Sambrano will face a possible arson case for the fire, which supposedly burned down P250,000 worth of properties. The suspect is now detained in the Sta. Ana Police Station.
