FORMER Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) chairman Ma. Belen Acosta on Monday took to social media to air her confusion about the letter requesting her to turn over the properties issued during her term.
“In view of the appointment of Secretary Leo Tesoro Magno as the new MINDA Chairperson, we are respectfully requesting the turnover of all MinDA properties issued to you during your term and are still currently in your possession,” the letter reads.
The letter was posted by Acosta on her Facebook page on June 10, which also requested all staff coterminous to her to turn over all properties under their custody.
“So this is what’s happening at the Mindanao Development Authority Office now. I was sent a letter saying that I have to turn over all properties assigned to me. Why????,” Acosta captioned the post, along with the letter.
Acosta also questioned the two security personnel posted at the entrance of her office on the 14th-floor office of the MinDA, saying they were not there before.
The new security protocol emphasized that only authorized personnel/employees and visitors with confirmed appointments with the Office of the Chairperson, the Office of the Executive Director, or the Office of the Deputy Executive Director shall be allowed entry to the 14th floor, otherwise, they will be directed to the 10th floor for processing and confirmation before admission to the 14th.
Meanwhile, visitors of employees on the 14th floor shall ONLY be allowed entry to the 10th floor.
“People normally come and go inside my office. It is after all a government office. Its purpose is to serve the people,” Acosta said in the post.
She added the office is not personal property as it belongs to the people.
Acosta also shared on Facebook at 11 a.m. that her official Gmail address at MinDA has been disabled by the Google Workspace administrator.
The official stressed there had been no final decision on the ongoing case of the legal actions of their team following her unexpected termination.
To recall, the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 15 on June 4 gave former Mindanao Development Authority chairman Ma. Belen Acosta and lawyer Israelito Torreon 10 days to explain why they posted “false and untruthful narratives” on social media.
This following Acosta’s Facebook post on June 3 declared that the dismissal of the quo warranto that her legal team initially filed on May 27 was “reversed” and that RTC has granted the Motion for Reconsideration.
RTC Branch 15 Presiding Judge Mario C. Duaves stressed the “official statement” contains “extremely incorrect facts that corrupted the true nature and substance of the Court orders and processes.”
Duaves ordered Acosta and the team to take down the post within 10 days. A of press writing, the post can still be found on Acosta’s Facebook page.
