The Social Security System (SSS) Davao is set to collect about P3 million, including penalties, from 10 delinquent employers in various industries as part of its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) operation on July 23.
The RACE operation, affecting 119 employees in Davao City was led by SSS Mindanao South 1 Division vice president Mary Ellen Estoque.
Among the industries were trucking services, cafes and restaurants, law firms, and auto parts, all summed up for the Davao Branch, with a total obligation of P2,089,445, plus penalties amounting to P1,527,138.02 to be collected, which affected 119 employees.
“During the Davao-Illustre RACE campaign, we visited eight delinquent employers from the following industries: BPO, beauty parlors, cafes and restaurants, spa activities, retail, real estate, and support service companies. The total obligations from said employers were P989,455.00 in principal and added P161,716.84 in penalties, affecting 74 employees,” SSS-Davao reported.
They also issued Notices of Violations, giving the employers 15 days to settle with SSS, and failure to do so within the given period will result in their records being referred to the SSS Employer Delinquency Monitoring Department for the issuance of a demand letter.
Employers subjected to the RACE Campaign were also offered different options on how they can settle their obligations with SSS such as the installment payment option.
“Employers are reminded that the violation of the R.A. 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018 shall be punished by imprisonment of six years and one day to 12 years, and a fine of P5,000 to P20,000. This aggressive move by SSS is made to protect the rights of the members and to comply with the Social Security Law,” the statement reads.
The RACE campaign is a nationwide activity aiming to push the social security of Filipino workers by calling on business establishments and urging them to settle their contribution delinquencies.
