- FPRRD flip-flops about accusing PBBM of being a drug addict
FORMER President Rodrigo Roa Duterte denied accusing President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. of being addicted to drugs.
“Wala akong sinabi na ganun even if you kill me a thousand times,” Duterte said in a press conference in Harana Bistro, here on Tuesday, Feb.27.
He clarified what he meant was Marcos was taking “antibiotics and aspirin, as they are all drugs.”
“Kung sabihin mong adik, wala akong sinabi na ganun. Maawa ka naman sa akin. Matanda na ako (If you say addict, I didn’t say that. Have mercy on me. I am already old),” Duterte added.
When asked about the updates of his “drug test” challenge, the former president denied all his claims saying “Patayin ako ni Marcos niyan, takot pa naman akong mamatay (Marcos will probably kill me. I am afraid to die).”
His statements were a stark contrast to his pronouncements during a prayer rally on Jan. 28 where he told the crowd that Mr. Marcos was a drug addict. “Si Bonbbong Marcos, bangag nuon. Ngayong presidente na, bangag ang ating presidente.”
During the same rally, he claimed to have seen President Marcos’ name on the drugs watchlist prepared by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
In a press conference with the local media on Jan. 30, Duterte challenged Mr. Marcos to a public drug test as the latter said that his mind was distorted by his use of fentanyl. He also revealed during the press con that he knew the President’s “supplier.”
While Duterte admitted to using fentanyl, he denied abusing it. He claimed he already stopped on the advice of his doctor who prescribed the powerful painkiller following his motorcycle accident injury.
