Army neutralizes communist rebel in Davao Oriental

A NEW People’s Army (NPA) member was killed in an encounter on April 27, 2025, in Sitio Manawi, Barangay Caatihan, Boston, Davao Oriental, with troops from the 67th Infantry (Agila) Battalion.

The operation was initiated following reports from locals who sighted armed individuals believed to be remnants of the Regional Sentro de Gravidad (RSDG) JAGUAR of the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC).

The 67IB, under the 701st Infantry (Kagitingan) Brigade and the operational control of the 10th Infantry (Agila) Division, responded swiftly, leading to the death of one NPA member during the clash.

Major General Allan Hambala, commander of the 10ID, commended the residents for their crucial support in the government’s ongoing efforts to prevent the resurgence of the NPA.

“The vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious activities by our residents significantly hinder the ability of insurgent groups to re-establish themselves within our area of operation,” Hambala said. “I urge all Agila troopers to continue strengthening our partnership with the local government units and the communities we serve.”

Furthermore, the military command is encouraging the remaining members of weakened NPA units to embrace a new life by taking advantage of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
