DAVAO CITY Special Needs Intervention Center for Children (DCSNICC) has catered 300 plus clients and beneficiaries for interventions and inquiries in three days after its inauguration on Mar 21.
Dr. Melody Pardillo, DCSNICC overseer, shared that on its first day, more than 200 parents had reached out to the center. Within the 300 clients, most of them are diagnosed while the remaining are undiagnosed.
DCSNICC currently has two developmental pediatricians with their own respective schedules on Wednesday and Friday that caters to 11 children a week.
SPED teacher of DCSNICC Nove Helburion said that they are presently at seven SPED teachers also with schedules to occupy available rooms.
“Mag arrange lang mi on our end unsaon namo pag [cater] sa students. Depende man pud na kung unsa ang suitable sa ilaha if group ba na discussion, if diag (diagnosis) ba, or mas better sa ilaha na one on one,” Helburion said during the iSpeak media forum on Mar 27.
The state-of-the-art facility was inaugurated on Mar 21, 2025, near People’s Park, and was initiated by former mayor Sara Duterte and continued by mayor Sebastian Duterte.
It is the first in Mindanao, and provides services and intervention for children with special needs at the age of 0 to 6 as well as families with indigency. The center offers assessment, diagnosis, therapy services, and special education programs.
