
LEFTIST groups gathered at the Freedom Park along Roxas Avenue to commemorate the 39th anniversary of the People Power Revolution to oust strongman President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. on Feb. 25, 2025.
The rally, which commenced at 1:33 p.m., was attended by an estimated 60 participants from Makabayan Coalition, Bayan Muna, Gabriela Youth, Anakbayan, and Kabataan Partylist.
With this, the Davao City Police Office deployed 376 personnel to secure the demonstrators and ensure public safety and order during the commemoration.
The DCPO security plan for the activity included police visibility patrols, mobile patrols, motorcycle patrols, foot patrols, traffic assistance, checkpoint/border control points, Civil Disturbance Management units, a drone operator, and personnel equipped with body-worn cameras.
Rallying groups voiced several demands, including the abolition of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, calls for accountability against the Marcos and Duterte administrations, justice and accountability for various issues, long-lasting peace and an end to tyranny, and justice for the New Bataan 5.
