- Ungab says impeachment proceedings diversionary tactic
THIRD District Rep. Isidro Ungab dismissed the ongoing moves to impeach Vice President Sara Duterte since there’s no more time left for the Senate to convene as a plenary.
In a social media post on Wednesday night, Ungab pointed out the limited time remaining in the current congressional session.
“The impeachment is a futile exercise from the start. Congress will resume its session on June 2 and will adjourn sine die on June 13,” Ungab said.

“What can they do with six (6) session days left? This is nothing but a diversion from the real issue, which is the anomalous budget process as shown by the 28 blank items in the bicam report. And again, nasaan na ang Enrolled Bill ng 2025 Budget?” he added.
Indeed, the Senate adjourned on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025, without tackling the impeachment complaint endorsed by the House of Representatives after collecting 215 votes.
House of Representatives Secretary General Reginald Velasco personally delivered the Articles of Impeachment to Senate Secretary Renato Bantug Jr. However, the document could not immediately be handed over to the plenary without complete staff work.
Ungab said the public should focus on the blank items on the bicam report and who was responsible for filling in the blanks in the endorsed bill, which became the basis for the 2025 General Appropriations Bill.
Ungab and senatorial bet Atty. Vic Rodriguez already petitioned the Supreme Court to tackle the constitutionality of the 2025 General Appropriations Act signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
