THIRTY-SIX former rebels (FRs) officially surrendered during a welcome ceremony held at Camp Osito D. Bahian on Jan. 10, 2025, in Malaybalay, Bukidnon.
The event was organized by the 403rd Infantry Brigade of the 4th Infantry Division and the local government. It celebrated the successful surrender of the former rebels and highlighted the government’s commitment to ending insurgency through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
During the ceremony, the former rebels surrendered a significant cache of high-powered firearms to the 403rd Infantry Brigade, which includes the 8th, 88th, and 26th Infantry Battalions, and the 1st Special Forces Battalion. This act symbolized their commitment to a life free from violence.
“We commend you for making the decision to lay down your arms and embrace peace,” said Brigadier General Michele B. Anayron Jr., Commander of the 403rd Infantry Brigade.
“This marks the beginning of your transformation and reintegration into society. The troops, together with local authorities, will provide all the necessary support to help you build a better future for yourselves and your families, ” Anayron said.
Brigadier General Consolito P. Yecla, 4ID assistant division commander, read a message from division commander Maj Gen Jose Maria Cuerpo. “This is a testament to the effectiveness of the government’s peacebuilding efforts. We encourage other members of insurgent groups to follow the example of these 36 former rebels and choose the path of peace.”
The ceremony was attended by key military and government officials, including local government leaders and media representatives.
The E-CLIP program provides comprehensive assistance to former rebels, including livelihood support, education, and social services to help them successfully reintegrate into society.
