- Police still unclear on motive into murder of BFAR XI official
AUTHORITIES are looking at personal and work-related angles into the murder of a female employee of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources XI on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources XI condemned the killing of their 42-year-old female colleague, who was assigned to the National Mariculture Center in Panabo City, Davao del Norte.
Initial information from the Panabo City Police Station revealed that the victim was inside her vehicle when she was approached and shot multiple times in the head.
Authorities recovered two empty shells from a suspected .9mm pistol and two deformed slugs at the crime scene.
According to Lt. Col. Jess Anthony Maghirang, chief of the Panabo City Police Office, the motive for the crime is still unclear. They also have no suspects as of this time.
In a statement, BFAR XI pledged to support efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice. The victim was said to have made significant contributions to the fishing industry.
“The BFAR XI management and staff are deeply saddened and outraged by the untimely and unwarranted death of our colleague, Ms. Karen Candilosas of BFAR National Mariculture Center, Panabo City, Davao del Norte,” the statement said.
“This tragic loss has left an irreplaceable void in our hearts and in BFAR, as an organization. We strongly condemn the circumstances surrounding her death and stand in solidarity with her family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” it added.
“We are committed to supporting the pursuit of justice for Ms. Karen and her family. She will always be remembered for her contributions to the fisheries sector, and the organization; as well as the positive impact she has made in the lives of her colleagues and the fisherfolk she has served,” it further said.
