Pasko Fiesta 2024 officially opens

THE CITY government officially launched on Friday the Dan-ag sa Davao, Pasko Fiesta 2024 opening ceremony, with the theme “Stronger Brighter, Happier Together.”

Davaoeños were transported to the Enchanted Woodland whimsical forest in the heart of the city as the vice mayor J. Melchor Quitain Jr. signaled the lighting of the Christmas tree.

“As we light up this Christmas tree tonight, may it inspire us to illuminate our lives and the lives of others – that even in the darkest of times, light will always guide us to better days ahead,” Mayor Sebastian Duterte in a message delivered by vice mayor J. Melchor Quitain Jr.

“This year, more than the lights and decorations, Pasko Fiesta celebrates the resilience and unity of the Dabawenyo Community. Together, we have faced uncertainties, weathered challenges, and emerged stronger than ever,” he added.

Apart from the Christmas tree, the city hall grounds showcased interactive designs, large reindeer, big gift boxes, and Santa’s sleigh.

The month-long celebration which runs from Nov, 28 to Dec. 31 will feature 15 major events along with the annual Sing-Along ni Pulong.

The City Tourism Operations Office prepared five competitions including Koro sa Pasko, Banda Dasig, Sayaw sa Pasko, and Pasko Panag-uban.

To officially feel the Christmas vibe, the Panayegon sa City Hall will showcase music bands to serenade Davaoeños with Christmas songs on Dec. 1.

The Mugna sa Pasko on Dec. 15, which is a Christmas-themed creative costume competition, is the new addition to this year’s festivity.
