Davao City and Hamamatsu City ink partnership agreement

DAVAO CITY and Hamamatsu City of Japan forged ties to collaborate on education, academia, industry, investments, and manufacturing through the Sister City partnership on Oct. 29.

Mayor Sebastian Duterte signed the memorandum of understanding with Hamamatsu City Mayor Yusuke Nakano at the Matina Enclaves, Ecoland, strengthening the bond between the two cities. 

Hamamatsu City now officially becomes Davao City’s third sister city in Japan.

With the partnership, Davao City hopes to improve music, arts, physical education, and health in elementary schools.

Furthermore, Yamaha Music Philippines, Inc. and the Department of Education will also sign a memorandum of agreement with Davao City to introduce the “School Project,”  popularizing musical activities in public education.

In an interview with Duterte, he hoped the sister city agreement could generate employment by inviting investors as the city is now conducive to businesses creating more workforce with the arrival of more employers.

So murag job matching gihapon ang bitbit nila,” he said on Oct 29.

He also noted that Davao City has a growing population with Davaoeños known to be hard-working and disciplined. 

Di pud na sila [investors] mu adto diri sa Davao if wala gyud sila makitag potential or dili secure ang ilahang investment diri,” he said.
