- DCPO to strengthen operations vs robbery, theft, and burglary
THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) has intensified its operations under Oplan R.A.T. (Robbery/Hold-up, Akyat Bahay, and Theft) Tugis.
DCPO spokesperson, Captain Hazel Tuazon, explained that Oplan R.A.T. Tugis is a city-wide operation targeting identified criminals involved in robbery, hold-up, Akyat Bahay, and theft incidents.
“We continue to focus on our Oplan R.A.T. Tugis program, monitoring individuals involved in criminal activities. Many theft-related posts appear on social media; however, not all are accurate. Some are positive, but we cannot immediately believe everything shared online, especially without a proper police investigation into the incidents,” Tuazon said.
“We appreciate true reports as they enable us to recover stolen items and apprehend suspects. However, some victims do not file cases, which is frustrating for the Davao City Police Office. Despite our efforts to apprehend suspects and recover items, some individuals are too busy or focused on their businesses to file complaints,” she added.
“That’s why we ask for time to file cases in court. If suspects are released, they may return to criminal activities. We have dedicated personnel for this, but we also need cooperation from complainants. We encourage the community to report any suspicious activity to the police immediately,” she further emphasized.
“One of our concerns is that some victims do not file cases even when their items are recovered,” Tuazon noted.
Background on theft suspects
“According to our rogue gallery in the police stations, some suspects are from Davao but most are from outside the city, renting and working here. Therefore, we urge barangays to strengthen their monitoring of constituents, especially regarding the backgrounds of those living in their areas,” Tuazon said.
