THE SUBDIVISION and Housing Developers Association (SHDA) adopted a resolution to craft a Unified Philippine Housing Roadmap for 2025-2040 to address the country’s housing backlog.
The roadmap aims to promote sustainable urban development in line with the government’s 4PH Program initiatives for long-term housing.
“The adoption of a unified housing roadmap is a critical step toward addressing our nation’s housing challenges. By working closely with government agencies and private developers, we aim to turn this vision into reality and ensure affordable housing for all Filipinos,” SHDA Chairman Ar. Leonardo Dayao Jr. said.
The goal of the roadmap is to streamline permitting and licensing processes for housing projects through digitizing processes, improving the ease of doing business for developers, and prevent delays in the future.
SHDA is committed to employing green and sustainable design practices and has urged public and private developers to integrate environmentally responsible solutions into their projects.
On top of the crafting of the roadmap, the convention also highlighted financing solutions to sustain support for the housing sector, such as but not limited to flexible mortgage products and expanded financing options to assist low- and middle-income homebuyers.
SHDA added locally-sourced and eco-friendly materials that will be utilized for the housing construction in support of the Tatak Pinoy initiative.
Not only to reduce the housing backlog, the group aimed to ensure Filipinos’ accessibility to quality homes.
“The data, insights, and trends presented at the convention will enhance our current framework, policies, and programs, enabling us to advance housing development across the country and meet the growing demand for sustainable, affordable homes,” Atty. Joy Manaog, SHDA National President said.
The roadmap was solidified in the recently concluded 32nd National Developers Convention on October 10-11 held here, in partnership with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), and collaboration with key shelter agencies, LGUs, housing organizations, and private developers.
Over 380 policymakers, developers, and stakeholders were present in the convention. DHSUD Undersecretaries Atty. Garry V. De Guzman and Ar. Henry L. Yap and Pag-IBIG Fund CEO Marilene Acosta graced the event.
