COC filing for 2025 mid-term elections peaceful: DCPO

THE FILING of certificates of candidacy (COC) for the 2025 mid-term elections ended with zero recorded incidents, according to the Davao City Police Office (DCPO).

The DCPO noted that the atmosphere was peaceful and anticipatory as various candidates and their supporters gathered to formally declare their participation in the upcoming elections.

Acting city police director Col. Hansel Marantan said the DCPO played a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and orderliness of the event, strategically deploying personnel to maintain peace throughout the process.

He said they received no reports of violence, protests, or security breaches, which allowed candidates to submit their documents without fear of interference.

From the early hours of Oct. 1, 2024, Major Richeen Lagnayo, Sta. Ana Police Station chief and assistant ground commander, led the deployment of security forces at key points around the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office inside Magsaysay Park.

The law enforcers were tasked to control the crowd, enforce safety protocols, and prevent potential disruptions.

“The successful COC filing is just the beginning of our efforts to ensure a safe and fair 2025 election,” remarked Col. Hansel Marantan, ACD, DCPO.

He reaffirmed the DCPO’s commitment to maintaining peace and neutrality throughout the electoral process.
