Comelec XI: 52 aspirants have filed their certificates of candidacy 

FIFTY-TWO candidates have filed their certificates of candidacy (COCs) to run for mayor, congressman, and councilors at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Magsaysay Park as of Monday, Oct. 7.

Incumbent 2nd District Councilor Diosdado Angelo Mahipus Jr. filed his certificate of candidacy for reelection. First District Councilor Luna Maria Dominique Acosta also filed her certificate of candidacy for reelection.

Incumbent 2nd District Councilor Augusto Javier “Javi” Garcia-Campos III formally filed his COC for the 2nd District Representative on Monday, running under Partido Federal ng Pilipinas. Campos was accompanied by his cousin, former 1st District Congressman Karlo Nograles, during the filing.

Additionally, incumbent 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte also filed his COC for reelection, through his lawyer Atty. Elija Pepito.

Former councilor Danny Dayanghirang filed his COC on Monday for 2nd District councilor. Earlier that day, independent candidate Carmela Merquita also listed her name for the 2025 mid-term elections. 

According to records from the Comelec XI, the candidates who filed their COCs since Oct. 1 include:

In total, five candidates are running for congressman, one for mayor, one for vice mayor, and 45 for councilor.
