THE DEPARTMENT of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XI noted a placement rate of 91.17% equivalent to the 300,000 registered jobseekers referred for placement from 2022 to the 1st semester of 2024.
During the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas on Sept. 17, Atty. Jason Balais, DOLE XI asst. regional director, said over 270,000 individuals were also successfully placed into various industries.
“These initiatives reflect our unwavering dedication to promoting gainful employment opportunities and fostering human resource development across the region,” Balais said.
Additionally, a total of 1,348 Alien Employment Permits (AEP) were issued. Among the foreign nationals issued with AEP are Chinese, Indian, Indonesian, Pakistani, and Japanese.
“Through the JobStart Philippines Program, which focuses on enhancing the employability of at-risk youth to improve their integration into productive employment, 354 individuals received life skills training, with 207 successfully securing wage employment,” Balais said.
He also noted that about 10,990 young interns in the Davao Region under the Government Internship Program were provided opportunities and contributed to public service through their engagement in government offices.
About 12, 339 students also benefited from the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES), placing them in both private and public establishments.
Balais said the SPES “not just provides valuable work experience to help fund their education, but it also supports local businesses in the region.”
“By offering training and internships to young individuals, we equip them with essential skills for long-term employment and help bridge the gap between education and industry,” he added.
