THE DAVAO City Police Office and the Coast Guard Southeastern Mindanao joined hands to secure Davaoeños and visitors alike celebrating the 39th Kadayawan Festival, which formally opens on Aug. 8.
During the press conference at The Royal Mandaya Hotel on Aug. 7, DCPO spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon said they deployed 3,671 security personnel to monitor all the activities, including the opening of the festival at Magsaysay Park.
One of the highlights of the festival is the IRONMAN 70.3 on Aug. 11, which is expected to draw international triathletes who will test their mettle in the annual competition.
Among fun run events leading up to the IRONMAN 70.3 include 2GO’s Gwapa Dabawenya Run Course on Aug. 9 and IRONKIDS race on Aug. 10.
Meanwhile, the Coast Guard is tasked to secure passengers entering Davao City and also the bancarera.
PCG Deputy Davao station commander Ensign Winston Gonzales assures Davaoeños that security measures are already in place, so they can enjoy the activities without worries.
