Davao City bolsters security for the 39th Kadayawan Festival

DAVAO City is ramping up security measures for the upcoming 39th Kadayawan Festival with a particular focus on preventing personnel fatigue and ensuring comprehensive coverage of all events.

Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) chief, Angel Sumagaysay, emphasized the importance of shift rotations for the 20,485 personnel from the integrated security and safety cluster who will be deployed throughout the month-long festival.

This will be especially crucial during extended events like Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan and Pamulak sa Kadayawan.

Sumagaysay also noted that security will be heightened for the Ironman competition on August 9-11th.

The city’s commitment to a safe festival was underscored during a send-off ceremony held at the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Parade Ground on July 30.

The event, attended by Sumagaysay representing Mayor Sebastian Duterte, highlighted the crucial role of security personnel in ensuring public safety and the festival’s success. Rev. Fr. Jasper Alfeche, Chaplain of Holy Cross of Davao College, led a blessing for the deployed troops.
