Team USA wins over Serbia in first Olympic basketball game

TEAM USA defeated Serbia in their first Olympic game 110-84 at the Pierre-Mauroy Stadium in Lille on Sunday.

The defending Olympic basketball champion was led by Kevin Durant, who scored 23 points on 8-9 field goals. Durant was perfect from beyond the arc, scoring 5-5 3-point field goals.

Historic flag bearer LeBron James also provided a huge contribution with 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 assists and was perfect from the free throw line. James was part of the starting lineup along with Stephen Curry, Jrue Holiday, Devin Booker, and Joel Embiid.

Despite the loss, reigning NBA Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic logged 20 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists, and 4 steals. Jokic was aided by Atlanta Hawks player Bogdan Bogdanovic who scored 14 points. 

USA joins South Sudan as the only unbeaten teams in Group C collecting two points apiece. They will play each other next on Aug. 1, 3:00 a.m. PST.
