- CDRRMO to determine fund availability for aid to disaster-hit Luzon LGUs
THE CITY Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) disclosed on Monday that they have yet to finalize the amount of financial aid to be donated to disaster-hit local government units in Luzon.
CDRRMO head Alfredo Baloran said CDRRMO will look into the fund availability to extend financial assistance.
However, he said the city government has enough funds for use but they must first conduct an assessment considering the year is still halfway through.
“Since July pa karon, kailangan nato og reserba nga dili mahurot ng atong pundo nga mahatag pud sa uban… para dili pud maglisod ang city,” Baloran told reporters on Monday after the flag-ceremony.
The official added preparation of the documents including the declaration of state of calamities of the LGUs is underway. The declaration is the basis for the assistance to be extended.
He did not reveal the exact amount of assistance but he said the standard is P300,000 for the municipality, P500,000 for the city, and P1-M for the province.
The documents will still be presented to the CDRRM Council and the Sanguniang Panlungsod for approval.
“So far theres no total amount. We still have to look into kung kaya ba nato mo-tabang,” Baloran said.
The chief said it is the city government’s practice to extend aid with or without the request from the affected LGU.
As of 8 a.m. on Monday, the number of casualties due to tropical cyclones Butchoy and Carina and Southwest Monsoon or Habagat rose to 36 deaths, six injured, and three missing persons, according to the National DRRMC.
A total of 1,240,090 families or 4,553,752 persons were affected. Of these, 38,292 families, or 152,800 persons were served inside 848 ECs, and 134,235 families, or 641,944 persons were served outside ECs.
The provincial governments of Batangas, Cavite, Bulacan, and Bataan already declared a state of calamity on Wednesday. The Metro Manila Council also approved a resolution declaring the national capital under a state of calamity to release calamity funds for its 16 cities and 1 municipality.
