Police thwart robbery in under three minutes

A SUSPECTED robbery attempt at a Boulevard establishment was foiled on Saturday thanks to the rapid response of the Sta. Ana Police, highlighting the effectiveness of a new initiative by the Police Regional Office (PRO) XI.

The swift action, aligned with the “3-Minute Rapid Tactical Response” (3MRT) policy championed by regional director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, saw officers arrive on the scene within minutes of the incident being reported.

While acknowledging that the 3MRT policy might face limitations in outlying areas due to travel time, Torre emphasized its effectiveness in downtown areas.

The policy, previously implemented during his tenure as Quezon City Police District commander, is being piloted in Davao City with plans for region-wide adoption.

Torre envisions the 3MRT becoming standard practice for PRO XI personnel, contributing to both crime prevention and swift resolution. The policy aims to ensure police can reach citizens in distress within three minutes, especially during critical incidents.
