4th ID rescues 35 abandoned dogs after Camp Evangelista demolition

THE 4TH Infantry (Diamond) Division rescued 35 stray dogs left behind following the recent demolition of informal settler houses at Camp Evangelista Military Reservation.

The rescue operation, conducted on July 7, 2024, was part of ongoing clearing efforts by the 4th Installation Management Battalion.

Lt Col Francisco Garello Jr., the 4ID spokesperson, said the demolition of informal settlements took place from June 18 to 24.

Partnering with the Cagayan de Oro City Veterinary Office and the non-governmental organization Loving Home for Strays, soldiers patrolled the demolition sites to locate and rescue distressed and abandoned animals.

“We are committed to protecting not only people but also the welfare of animals in our communities,” said Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, Commander of 4ID. “These dogs deserve a second chance at life. Our goal is to provide immediate care and find them new homes.”

The rescued dogs will receive medical attention, food, and shelter to ensure their safety and well-being.

The 4th Infantry Division remains dedicated to supporting local communities and wildlife, demonstrating its commitment to service and protection that extends beyond human lives.
