- DILG announces reward for information on whereabouts of Quiboloy, others
THE DEPARTMENT of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced a P10 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, the Davao Police Regional Office confirmed today.
On Monday afternoon, PRO XI spokesperson Major Catherine Dela Rey told TIMES that the other accused in the child abuse and trafficking charges also carried bounties on their heads.
DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos issued a stern warning to Quiboloy to surrender.
“The law is the law, and those who are guilty will be held accountable. That’s what we will do, Pastor Quiboloy,” Abalos said in a press conference. “Are you innocent? Surrender. Is that so difficult?”
The reward money was reportedly sourced from “friends” frustrated with Quiboloy’s continued evasion of authorities.
Quiboloy and five co-accused remain at large despite arrest warrants. The DILG is also offering P1 million for each of his associates.
“It’s as if they are trampling on the government’s system,” lamented Abalos, referencing a failed attempt by police to enter Quiboloy’s Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound in Davao City last month.
Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) warned that anyone harboring Quiboloy or his co-accused could face charges of obstruction of justice. PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Marbil said they are investigating former President Rodrigo Duterte, a close ally of Quiboloy and KOJC property administrator, following his remark about knowing Quiboloy’s whereabouts.
“Any statement indicating where the person is, we are studying if it falls under Presidential Decree (PD) 1829,” Marbil said, referencing the law on obstruction of justice.
