  • New names floated as next director of DCPO: PRO XI spokesperson

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) has confirmed that potential candidates are being considered for the directorship position following the relief of Colonel Richard Bad-ang and 34 other police personnel in May.

DCPO spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon said that while names are circulating, no official decision has been made regarding the new director or officer-in-charge. Tuazon said the selection process is ongoing.

Naa na mga nag float names pero as of now, there is none [assume as city police director],” she added.

Meanwhile, Police Regional Office (PRO) XI spokesperson Major Catherine Dela Rey confirmed that the summary hearing for the 35 relieved officers, including Bad-ang, is ongoing.

The hearing stems from a probe into an anti-illegal drug operation that resulted in seven deaths last March.

Dela Rey stated they are awaiting a resolution from the Regional Internal Affairs Service (RIAS XI) regarding the investigation’s outcome.

While there is no update yet, Dela Rey clarified that if exonerated, the officers could potentially be reinstated to their former positions.

The maximum sanction within the Philippine National Police (PNP) is dismissal from service, while the minimum penalty is a 180-day suspension.
