DUAW Davao Festival kicked off its first event with the Pride Sportsfest at the Almendras Gym, Davao City Recreational Center on Friday, June 21, 2024.
There will be 30 teams competing from districts 1 to 3 in both volleyball and basketball games. Over 400 LGBT athletes will compete with 16 teams for volleyball and 14 teams to represent for basketball. The champion will be awarded with a cash prize of P30,000 with the runner-up getting P20,000.
“Gihatagan ug plataporma sa city government ang atong kaigsunan sa LGBT nga maipakita ilahang talento, ilahang mga skills, dili lang sa sports but different aspects napud sa kinabuhi sa isa ka LGBT. Very grateful and thankful atong LGBT Davao City Coalition kay Mayor Sebastian ‘Baste’ Duterte for always including the LGBTQIA+ sa tanang programa sa siyudad sa Davao,” organizer Teeny Arnaiz said.
The sportsfest will happen from June 21 to June 23, 2024. This event is free and open to all to watch and enjoy. This is the first event of multiple events for the Duaw Davao Festival 2024 that will happen from June 21 to June 30.
