LIGHT to moderate rains or thunderstorms will be observed for 24 hours, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) advised on Thursday.
As per the DOST-PAGASA General Flood Advisory issued on June 20, 6 a.m., rivers and their tributaries, particularly Davao, Lasang, Bunawan, Matina, Talomo, and Lipadas will likely be affected.
People living near the mountain slopes and in low-lying areas of the river systems are advised to take precautionary measures and be alert for possible flash floods.
The city is experiencing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and light to moderate to heavy rains in portions of Bunawan and Poblacion district.
As of 10 a.m., all river channels are monitored on code green or safe level while coastal status is in low tide and calm to slight seas.
CDRRMO chief Alfredo Baloran on Wednesday said they will install more devices in case of flood or high sea water levels amid the city experiencing localized thunderstorms.
Baloran reported a slight water level increase was monitored at the Talomo and Davao Rivers on Tuesday evening, but subsided on Wednesday morning.
Apart from a river camera in place upstream of Lipadas River, additional city-wide sirens were installed at Arroyo Compound, Matina River, and Barangay 5-A near the river mouth.
Another 360 coastal camera that monitors the sea and surrounding areas is being installed in Barangay 76–A.
Baloran said they are in close coordination with the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils in case of weather disturbances to cascade the information down to the barangay levels.
