THE CITY Library and Information Center (CLIC) services over 200 daily visitors during off-peak seasons or when there are no classes, a decrease from the 400 daily visitors recorded from January to March.
During the iSpeak Forum on June 13, Salome Enoc, CLIC officer-in-charge, said they continuously implement programs, especially for children, focusing on social inclusivity among the youth.
“I have not observed na medyo nibaba except of course kining months na June and July, dili jud na siya same sa peak seasons nato,” Enoc said.
Enoc stressed the need to establish market library centers in far-flung communities, as some areas were unaware of the existing public libraries in Calinan, Tugbok, and Toril.
Three mobile libraries also strive to cater services to their clients. Enoc added that they also plan to do ocular visitations among schools that have not yet reached out.
“We started the establishment of reading centers in the gym, in the infancy stage yet, but in a couple of months, we’ll be adding more activities there,” she said.
The proposed establishment of public Internet centers, also considered as the extension of the main library, is still currently pending in the 20th City Council.
The facility will be an extension of the City Library and Information Center and is targeted to be established in People’s Park in Palma Gil Street as a pilot area.
