THE PROPOSAL to simplify the title transfers for low-cost housing projects has been endorsed to the City Legal Office for certification.
Councilor Augustus Javier Campos III, chairperson of the committee on low-end housing projects, authored the proposed ordinance which drops the requirement for a Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) resolution for each title transfer.
Instead, the ordinance seeks to replace the requirement with a certification from the City Housing Office to save resources and approximately 10 months per case.
According to data, 7,773 beneficiaries secured a slot for the project, and although they were already given a house, they still haven’t received their titles.
Campus said the primary beneficiaries were from Piapi and S.I.R. Matina.
“No endorsed applicants for low-cost housing, only the beneficiaries,” the committee chair said.
On Tuesday’s press conference at the councilor’s lounge, Campos and Councilor Jesus Joseph Zozobrado III, the committee on rules, privileges, laws and ordinances chair, said the project aligns with the growth and sustainable development goals of the city.
For instance, the low-cost housing project strictly implements greening best practices to avoid harming the natural habitat where the houses are built.
Moreover, Zozobrado also discussed the issue of selling houses and lots without sufficient documents. He advised the public to be vigilant and reach out to the proper agencies before biting the offer.
“Do not engage anyone who doesn’t have documents and/or license to sell,” he said.
