THE NUMBER of families affected by the trough of low-pressure area (LPA) in the region reached 394 families or 1,411 individuals.
The Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) Davao Progress released an updated report on Wednesday, Jan. 21, along with the breakdown of the families.
According to data, 288 were from the province of Davao de Oro: Monkayo (73), Compostela (28), and New Bataan (187); while 106 families were from Davao Oriental, particularly in the municipalities of Cateel (64), Caraga (38), and Boston (4).
The 98 families from Davao de Oro and 105 families from Davao Oriental are now in evacuation centers.
The local governments ordered the pre-emptive evacuation of 169 families from Monkayo, 42 from Compostela, Nabunturan (177), New Bataan (54), and three families from Maragusan, Davao de Oro, and four families from Boston, Davao Oriental.
Meanwhile, three roads in Davao de Oro were rendered impassable due to landslides while two barangays reported water interruption.

Forty-four LGUs already suspended their classes: 11 from Davao de Oro, five from Davao Occidental, 11 from Davao del Norte, nine from Davao Oriental, and eight from Davao del Sur.
Pagasa said the region will experience cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorms in the next 24 hours. The public is reminded to be cautious of flooding and landslides.
Finally, the coastal waters for the eastern section of Mindanao will be rough ranging from (2.8 to 4.0 meters) and strong winds from the Northeast to the North direction. Sea travel in Davao Occidental is suspended.
