25th IB launches first book

THE 25TH Infantry (Fireball) Battalion launched its first-ever book at Camp Kalaw, Poblacion, Monkayo, Davao De Oro, on Dec. 15.

The book is titled “Unraveling the Fogs of War: The Triumphant Journey of the 25th Infantry ‘Fireball’ Battalion and Stakeholders.”

Lieutenant Colonel Michael T Aquino, 25IB commanding officer, and Marlon C. Magtira authored the book. It’s believed to be the first account by any unit under the 10th Infantry (Agila) Division since its inception in August 2006.

The book contains 103 sections and 10 chapters, including the Introduction, Lessons Learned, and Way Ahead. It has a total of 124,000 words and a foreword from Vice-President Sara Z. Duterte.

“This book is the result of the painstaking efforts of our combined skills and passion for documenting what is beautiful and worth sharing for this generation and the many generations to come. All of us will go, but this book will stay,” Magtira added.

In his speech, Lt. Col. Aquino said that the story of the 25IB is worth telling, and the book is part of the unit’s 50th “Golden” Anniversary.

“If there’s one thing we want to convey in writing this book, it’s the idea of creating a culture for the next generation, a generation that will embrace a culture of peace,” Aquino added.

Meanwhile, Davao De Oro Governor Dorothy Montejo-Gonzaga expressed her admiration for the men and women of the AFP. She added the province achieved an insurgency-free status because of the strong collaboration and support of all public and private stakeholders to the soldiers, specifically the 10th Infantry Division and the 25IB.

Brigadier General Allan D Hambala, 10ID commander, congratulated the men and women of 25IB for the successful launch of its first-ever book.

“Their triumph stands as a testament to the power of military and civilian stakeholders’ partnership, highlighting the effectiveness of collaborative action in combating insurgency,” Hambala added.
