A POLICEMAN riding a motorcycle died in a collision with a dump truck at 3 p.m. on Monday in Purok 15, DCC Tibungco, Bunawan District.
The victim was identified as Patrolman Bryan Garcia Escober, 35, a resident of Mati City, and assigned to the 1103rd of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion.
According to the report, both vehicles were traversing along the Daang Maharlika National Highway headed north.
The motorcycle was in the inner lane when the dump truck hit it from behind causing the driver—the victim’s colleague, Romeo Serrano, also assigned to the same battalion—to lose control.
The truck driver, Rumar Arriba from Paquibato District, fled after the accident but is now in the custody of the Bunawan police after being arrested. He faces a case for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
