THE COMMISSION on Elections (Comelec) XI will conduct Operation Baklas, a simultaneous nationwide dismantling of all illegal campaign materials on Friday, Oct. 27, 2023.
During an interview at Davao City Disaster Radio, Lawyer Gay Enumerables, Comelec XI acting regional director, said, “Daghan man gyud nakalapas sa mga poster areas but then dili gyud kaayo ingon ana kadako ang problema. Naa mi’y nakita, gi-notify namo na ipatanggal, gitanggal man pud (There are so many violators on the common poster areas but then it’s not that big of a problem. They immediately tear it down after we notify them).”
Prior to the nationwide Operation Baklas, Enumerables said they would also remove illegal campaign materials on Wednesday, Oct. 25, in all areas of Davao City.
Enumerables clarified that candidates are prohibited from posting campaign materials in barangay halls as these are within government premises. They also advise those posting on private establishments even if displayed only on outside fences.
“Dili dapat sa barangay hall, near lang dapat, mao man gud na kasagaran ang sentro sa barangay, ang barangay hall, so makita gyud siya, visible siya. But it should not be dinha sa barangay hall kasi government premises ‘yan,” she said.
She also said they have already sent show cause orders to more than ten candidates and groups who violated premature campaigning and the common poster areas since the early part of October.
“Actually diria sa regional office, ubay-ubay pud amoang nadawat na reklamo and complaints. Nakapadala nami siguro og more than ten recommendation reports sa Manila since atong naa na’y nag-file sa amoa. Naa pa pud mi’y cases na ongoing pa,” she added.
