DCOTT projects 1,500 bus trips daily for the long weekend

THE DAVAO City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) management projects between 1,000 and 1,500 trips, ferrying from 50,000 to 75,000 passengers daily for upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections, All Saints’ Day, and All Souls Day from Oct. 30 to Nov. 2.

Aisa Usop, DCOTT manager, said they already intensified security at the terminal and coordinated with bus operations to ensure that passengers could go home safely to their provinces.

“When it comes to security implementation, we already had this meeting together with our Task Force Davao, sa atoang mga kapulisan, security agencies, ug napahapsay nato tungod kay one week gyud pud nga naa atoang Office of Transportation for Security,” Usop said.

With the expected passenger influx for the long weekend, Usop expects their income to exceed last year’s P34 million. She said they will likely reach or even surpass this year’s P44 million target from bus transportation fees and amenities like terminal stall leases.

“As of this year nga naa nata sa month of September, naa nata sa almost P39-million. Buot ipasabot we are expecting to have an income of more than P50 million pag-abot nato sa December,” Usop said.

For bus trips, big buses usually pay an amount of P200 for bus terminals per trip, and P75 for mini-buses.

Usop also urged passengers to closely watch their belongings to avoid falling prey to pickpockets.
