SECURITY was heightened for Francisco Bangoy International Airport (DIA) following the bomb threat post that spread on social media.
Rex Obcena, manager of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Davao (CAAP-Davao), said they implemented target-hardening measures since they take all threats seriously, whether issued as a joke or prank.
Obcena asked for the understanding of the public, especially since they will undergo tighter screening and more layers of personnel before boarding.
“CAAP Davao has a series of collaborations with various security forces to work together to secure the safety of the people,” he said.
Authorities have tightened security at all 42 commercial airports across the Philippines as of Oct. 6 due to the bomb threat.
Meanwhile, officials are investigating the source and credibility of the threat that was targeted at flights from Manila to Bicol, Davao, Mactan-Cebu, and Puerto Princesa airports. Airport authorities are advising travelers to reach airports at least three hours prior to their departure to facilitate enhanced checks.
