A DRIVER faces reckless imprudence resulting in homicide after allegedly running over a 71-year-old man who was crossing the highway in Purok 21, San Roque, Calinan District, at 9:48 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24.
The suspect was identified as Johnny Apolinares Sumalinog, 33, single, and a resident of Purok 1, Datu Salumay, Marilog District.
Meanwhile, the victim was Celso Brigoli Preglo, a resident of Purok 21, San Roque, Calinan.
Based on the police investigation, Sumalinog was driving a jeepney from Barangay Riverside heading toward the Calinan proper when he hit the victim. Due to the force of the impact, Sumalinog died at the scene from severe multiple injuries.
The remains were brought to the Angel Funeral Parlor in Calinan while the suspect is now in the custody of the Calinan Police Station.
