THE CITY Health Office (CHO) and the Department of Health will expand the rollout of the COVID-19 Pfizer-bivalent vaccines to be used as booster doses at People’s Park on Aug. 26.
During the ISpeak Media Conference on August 24, Dr. Julinda Acosta, CHO technical division chief said they observed a slowdown in the uptake of booster vaccines compared to the previous months.
“Although naa gihapo’y gusto nga magpabakuna at that time nga first nato na gi-introduce ang bivalent vaccines, daghan kaayo’g ni-avail, but because of some guidelines na unahon nato’g hatag ang mga healthcare workers, A1, A2, and A3, so katong uban na gusto na magpa-booster, dili sila maapil. But this time we expanded the coverage ng ating Pfizer-bivalent,” Acosta said.
Acosta said they will extend the bivalent vaccines to allied medical students who already had their exposure in hospitals and clinics during their internship.
The COVID-19 Pfizer bivalent vaccines were given to health workers and senior citizens as their third booster shots.
“Naa pata’y 300 ka doses for Pfizer bivalent vaccines, that’s why ang Department of Health, magdagdag sila og bivalent vaccines sa Davao City, para ma-rollout nato this coming Saturday. Ang guaranteed na muabot sa amoa from DOH will be 200 doses,” Acosta added.
COVID-19 vaccinations are available in different health centers scheduled every Friday, and available during weekdays in People’s Park, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
