THE DEPARTMENT of Energy in Mindanao assured constant monitoring of the quality of petrol products being sold in the market.
During Kapehan sa Dabaw on Aug. 14, DOE Mindanao field office director Nilo J. Geroche said,
“On the non-pricing aspect, we also ensure we keep on monitoring itong quality and quantity to ensure na tama yung kalidad kay mahal na kaayo and dili pa ensakto ang kalidad so mas lalo na ma shortchange and ating mga consuming public (that the quality is right, because fuel is already expensive and if the quality is poor, the consuming public is shortchanged further),” Geroche said.
Meanwhile, on the aspect of the quality of lesser expensive petrol products, Geroche said DOE is making sure the gasoline stations and LPG establishments are complying with all the safety standards.
“As of now, very fortunate ta kay wala may nadawat nga reklamo sa low prices, although kaning mag offer og prices nga mas mababa, gina alleged sila nga gikan daw sa smuggled, low quality, so didto ta nga aspeto atong gipahingusgan ang pag monitor (As of now, we are very fortunate because we haven’t received any complaints regarding low priced petrol products, although those who offer low prices are allegedly due to smuggling or low quality, so we intensify our monitoring on that aspect),” Geroche said.
The price of petrol products will rise on Aug. 15, but not as big compared to the previous week, Aug. 8, wherein the oil companies implemented an increase of P4 per liter of diesel, P2.75 for kerosene, and P0.50 for gasoline.
Geroche encouraged the public to make conservation efforts such as lessening the use of fuel-consuming equipment, and vehicles by primarily planning trips beforehand.
He also advised the LPG establishments and gasoline stations to put up a price list to offer more options to the consuming public.
