CTTMO prepares for initial traffic congestion when coastal road opens
THE CITY Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) will deputize more personnel in anticipation of the influx of vehicles when the Davao City Coastal Road opens.
CTTMO head Dionisio Abude, during the I-Speak Media Forum on Thursday, May 11, said their office would realign its personnel, including assigning some enforcers at the entry and exit of the Davao City Coastal Road, eyed to open in the second quarter of the year.
As such, he already submitted the request for more traffic enforcers from the City Mayor’s Office.
“Ginapangandaman nato gikan sa Tulip right turn to Ecoland Drive up to Maya Quimpo sa may John Paul College. Gina-expect nato nga basin diha napod mag build-up (We are preparing for it from Tulip Road right turn to Ecoland Drive up to Maya-Quimpo near John Paul College. We expect there would be build-up),” Abude said.
However, he also expects the coastal road to decongest the stretch in Bangkal and Matina Crossing.
He said they would observe the traffic volume for the first two weeks, from south going north, adding that curious onlookers who want to experience the coastal road may also complicate the traffic situation.
“Magbutang nata og signages para gikan sa kanto Tulip paingon sa may Quimpo-Maya, no parking and tow away zone nagyud na siya hasta didto sa Talomo Exit padulong sa Ulas padulong sa Bailey Bridge, padulong Aplaya so mao na atong ginapangandaman (We will place signages so that the portion of Tulip until Quimpo, will be a no parking and tow away zone including the Talomo Exit going to Ulas to the Bailey Bridge going to Aplaya so that is what we are preparing for),” Abude said.
He added that road signages for the nearby roads leading to and exiting the coastal road are for installation.
