Gov’t worker, teacher and another nabbed for shabu

LAW ENFORCERS arrested a local government employee, a public school teacher and another for selling illegal drugs in an alleged en in Barangay Poblacion, Malita, Davao Occidental on Tuesday.

Agents of Davao Occidental Provincial Office of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the PDEA  Regional Office, Davao Occidental Police Provincial Office and Malita Municipal Police Station arrested Rodrigo Rodriguez, 68, single.

PDEA 11 spokesperson Nephi Noli Dimaandal, said Rodriguez, a job-order employee of the provincial government and the resident of the place, was arrested when he tried to sell a sachet of shabu to an agent. The illegal substance was valued at P15,000. 

During the operation, public-school teacher Isabel Tanggo and her companion, Haren Fel Tagose, were caught having a shabu session and were also arrested.

He said Two sachets with suspected shabu in different sizes weighing more or less 11 grams with a street value of P165,000, three self-sealing plastic packs with suspected Cannabis Sativa, assorted drug paraphernalia and the buy-bust marked money were also seized during the operation.

The suspects will be charged for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) Section 6 (Maintenance of a Drug Den), Section 7 (Employees and Visitors of a Den), 13 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs During Parties, Social Gatherings or Meetings,) and Section 14 (Possession of Equipment, Instrument, Apparatus and Other Paraphernalia for Dangerous Drugs During Parties, Social Gatherings or Meetings), Article II of Republic Act 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

He added that If Rodriguez and Tanggo were found guilty of such act, the maximum penalty shall be imposed, in addition to absolute perpetual disqualification from any public office as stated in Article II, Section 28 (Criminal Liability of Government Officials and Employees) of Republic Act 9165.
