Some organizers of the “Run, Sara, Run” caravan are looking at doing the same in the Visayas following the success in their activities in Mindanao this month.
The group said it has decided to also hold another caravan in the Visayas because of the overwhelming support from the masses and local chief executives in Mindanao for the call urging Mayor Sara Duterte to join the 2022 presidential derby.
On the Mindanao caravan, Eddie Arellano, one of the organizers, said: “Everything went ahead as planned with no untoward incident.”
Among those that joined the activities were volunteers of the Dagan ‘Day Sara sa 2022, Sara Duterte Supporters Group, Friends of Bong Go and Movers for Inday Sara Duterte.
In the Mindanao caravan, those who joined it were met by supporters, including local chief executives from Davao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Lanao del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur and Bukidnon.
One of those who met the participants was Surigao del Sur Alexander Pimentel who urged Mayor Duterte to accept the challenge of running for the highest office.
“We need continuity in governance; hence, we need Mayor Sara who can continue the programs initiated by President Duterte,” said Pimentel, pointing out that it the province has benefited from the Duterte presidency through the implementation of key programs.
Roque Quimpan, another convenor, said that the holding of the event in Luzon and Mindanao was a success that doing it in the Visayas will also be another success.
Among those expressing their support to the supposed Duterte candidacy are Mayor Maria Carla PPichay of Cantilan, Surigao del Sur, Mayor Erick Cañosa of Gingoog City; and Vice Mayor Rolmar Basalan of of San Miguel, Surigao del Sur.
Basalan, Duterte’s former classmate, jokingly warned those supporters of the mayor to be careful with what they wish for.
“Sultihan ta mo sa tinood… Dili ganahan si Sara ani. Dili niya gusto na mag-usik mo ug panahon… kwarta pa kaniya. Pero sa inyong gibuhat, basin malukmay ang iyang kasing-kasing. Mao ni ang mag-hagit kaniya,” he said. PR
